We had to differ ourselves by creating a new watch, where the shapes look as if they
would materialize themselves into a functional article, and where the originality isn’t left to
itself anymore. That’s when we realized to have discovered a new esthetic dimension: we
are talking about the philosophy of Zannetti, one of a few independent watch-makers left,
still working in the business.Initially his research is based on style, and so it brings
together taste and fantasy of the artist in an admirable way. He looks for all the
possibilities in the past, to then bring them to life again in the present, and adds the
manual working and tradition of the “typical” craftsman. Now, you can understand how
every creation starts as a hand drawing (without the use of the CAD computers that are
used by usual watch-makers), that then becomes a colorful picture and at last, gets fully
developed, so it’s ready to go into production. Of course, the work isn’t finished yet: the
case that you get from the primary work gets refined, engraved, and polished by hand
with patience and care, to be then enameled and polished again.
All movements, one after the other, are carefully refined and made more precious
through hand-made elements. We can see one example by looking at the “Montgolfier”: the rotor is out of gold, and the work of engraving is totally done by
hand. We can see the same job done on the dial: gold, mother of pearl, opal and
the enamel create a unique reflection of lights.
