After developing
long researches and experimentations, Zannetti released a collection
displaying his first models with watchcases completely painted black. For
this reason he used the PECVD technique (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour
Deposition), which protects the steel from corrosion and wear caused by
chemical or atmospheric agents. Not so long ago, the treatments applied
on steel were galvanic, painting and chemical or heat-treatments (PVD)
in order to enhance or modify the features of the watch cases and obtain
smoothness and abherence: Zannetti has instead decided to use the new
PECV technology, that allows to synthetize a film of amorphous
hydrogenate silicon on the surface of the metal with a high electronic
quality. Practically speaking, it is a deposition in the substrate of
the metal itself (therefore not only on its surface) that remarkably
enhances its technical features, without modifying its morphological
features (butter finishing, polishing, ecc.) and grants contemporarily a
functional and ornamental coating. Besides the PECVD deposition has a
thickness of a few micron and the process takes place at an ambient
temperature therefore there are no dimensional variations or distortions.
